This painting evolved in pieces over years. Originally, what I was painting was as mysterious to me as the ocean's depths. Then suddenly one day this whale breached the surface of the flowing lines, and in a fever of inspiration, I set to work with acrylic and metallic paint. I think I made one heck of a mess of my art room. It still wasn't finished though. I hung it on my wall and I'd walk past it for months, stopping now and then to touch up this little fishy or that little golden wave. Until one day it was ready to be shown, and to be loved by another.
